Simone Hayes – Founder Energy Fitness

Personal Trainer, Run Coach, Outdoor Group Fitness Trainer

Simone is an experienced Level 3 Personal Trainer (Fitness Australia) and Level 2 Advanced Recreational Running Coach (Athletics Australia) and started Energy Fitness in 2006. She loves to share her fondness of all things fitness and outdoors, inspiring others to find their inner strength and potential, whilst embracing the beautiful surrounds of the Sutherland Shire in her Outdoor Sessions.

Simone helps her clients to work to their potential and discover what they are truly capable of.  Call it a bit of tough love, as her classes are no walk in the park, but if you trust her and let you guide her, the results will speak for themselves. Everybody has a different fitness level, a different pain threshold and a different tolerance to exercise. Let Simone help you find your inner strength and get you out of your comfort zone, as she knows that everyone is capable of more than they realise. You’ll be able to achieve what you never thought possible and you’ll never look back.

Simone ran Energy Fitness successfully on her own for 11 years and is now pleased to welcome on board Pete Colagiuri from Bioathletic (physio and Run Coach),  Elissa Mayo (PT) and Yoga instructors Joanne Gates and Melina Bonfini to enhance the offerings to her clients and extend the timetable. All staff bring a whole new dimension to training, and we believe that our services complement each other very well.

We all have the same passion and training philosophy that will ensure our clients get results. By combining forces we can offer you the best fitness and health package in the Sutherland Shire.

You will still be trained by Simone with the same training that you’ve grown to love, but will also get to experience quality sessions run by our team of specialised trainers to give you the best and most well rounded program with more options than ever.

Simone has a passion for trail and ultra running and has had extensive experiences in distances from 10km-100mile. She continues to raise the bar by challenging herself, in the hope that she inspires her own athletes to strive to achieve.

We look forward to helping you change your life!

Pete Colagiuri – Run Coach & Physio

Pete is a Sports Physiotherapist with over 15 years experience. His clinical specialties are running injuries, chronic hip/groin issues and lower limb injuries across all sports. He particularly focuses on maintaining and improving performance by addressing the biomechanical contributors to injury. He looks for more than just WHAT happened, he looks for the WHY. And he doesn’t believe in rest, because no-one ever improved from sitting on the sidelines.

He is a distance runner, Level 2 running coach and has competed in ultramarathons since 2007 – as a father of three daughters, he particularly enjoys long training runs with no mobile reception. With an approach to injury management that is more aligned with a performance-enhancing mindset than classic rehabilitation, Pete analyses everything from training programs to biomechanics and footwear to make sure that every last barrier to performance is identified and managed.

Pete’s previous work includes team physio for soccer teams up to National level, injury surveillance consultant to Hyundai A-League and lecturing at Sydney University.

Pete takes some of our Run Club sessions and also some cardio sessions throughout the week.

Elissa Mayo – Cert IV Personal Trainer

Elissa is a certified personal and group trainer and although comparatively new to the field, she has a strong understanding of physical fitness having been involved in sports her whole life. She has been working with large corporates developing and delivering group fitness sessions as well as corporate initiatives and challenges for the last 3 years. Elissa has long history of involvement in many sports. Most recently she has enjoyed her running, having completed a number of Trail races such as the Coastal Classic, as well as Trail Ultra-Marathons including the Six Foot Track and the UTA50.

“I’ve really enjoyed my last few years as a personal trainer of being able to help people achieve their goals, watch them build their physical fitness, and more importantly their self-confidence which I think goes hand in hand. I have played and enjoyed many different sports in my life and I think this variety is why I stay active. I like to take that same approach with my personal and group training sessions, always trying to mix things up to keep people on their toes and interested.”

We welcome Elissa to the Team!

Joanne Gates – Yoga

Jo is a trained physiotherapist (non-practicing) and has been practicing yoga for 17 years and teaching for 10. A message from Jo:

“I have a love of learning and a passion for yoga and teaching. Over the years I have studied with many teachers both locally and internationally in various styles of yoga. I incorporate the best of what I have learned, as well as my knowledge and understanding of the body from my years as a physio, into my teaching. My classes are fun, creative and mindfully sequenced to open and strengthen the body in a safe and healthy way. I love yoga for many reasons, but particularly because it provides a wonderful counterbalance not only to other forms of training, but also to our hectic and busy lives. I can’t wait to share yoga with you. Namaste, Jo”

Classes on offer are Power Yoga – a more dynamic and strength based yoga that is challenging and fun, and then Chill Flow Yoga which is a more gentle yoga focused on flexibility, stretching and relaxing – I’d recommend you try both as both are two very different sessions and Jo’s sessions are ever changing – you’ll love it!
